Gastric Sleeve |  2013  My Life Before Surgery: Before surgery, I always felt tired and had no energy. On my days off of work, I would stay home and watch TV or play video games. I didn't like to go out because I was really self conscious and felt embarrassed because of my weight. I tried to cover my weight with clothing.

I tried many diets. Nothing worked for me. I battled major anxiety, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, borderline diabetes and severe sleep apnea--I stopped breathing 98 times an hour while sleeping!

Making the Decision:

I was so tired of being fat and unhealthy. I wanted a better life and wanted to be around for my kids. I did all the research myself and at first I wanted adjustable gastric band, but after careful research I decided that the gastric sleeve was the best option for me.

How My Life Has Changed:

My life has changed dramatically! My life is way better. I was 6'1” and 489 pounds with a 54" waist. It’s been 1-1/2 year since my surgery and I now weigh 235 pounds with a 34" waist*. I use the "tool" I was given wisely. I no longer sit in the house watching TV. My confidence is better. I exercise 3-4 times a week and jog/run 2-3 miles 3-4 times a week. I watch what I eat and drink and stay away from carbonated beverages completely. I don't even drink beer anymore.

I don't have to worry about breaking chairs, sitting in restaurant booths or fitting on a toilet. I can bend over and tie my shoes without being out of breath. I no longer sweat profusely while standing in place. Everything is much better with weight loss and being healthy!!
